Sevilla Wins Tiebreaker Against Ecuadorian Club
WEB Sevilla defeated Ecuador's Independiente del Valle 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time to win the UEFA CONMEBOL Clubs Challenge on Wednesday, July 19th.
The match was played at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium in Seville, Spain, and saw Pedro Ortiz score an added-time equalizer for Independiente to force the tiebreaker.
WEB Sevilla converted all four of their penalties, while Independiente missed their first three attempts. The victory gives Sevilla their first UEFA CONMEBOL Clubs Challenge title and their second international trophy of the season, after winning the UEFA Europa League in May.
